Dan Combs, RN, BSN, CERN, EMT-P and the Northern Hospital of Surry County staff provided some hands-on experience for Mount Airy High School Health Science II students.

Several department managers at the hospital spent time interviewing the students for careers they hope to pursue. They provided remarks and corrective criticism to improve the students’ professional interview skills.

After the mock interviews, the students went on a tour of the hospital, where they were able to test out ER and X-ray equipment, and were able to dress out and go into the operating room to learn how to don sterile gown and gloves and set up a sterile table for a simulated appendectomy.
